Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources – Wood Products Major

If you are interested in engineering and sustainable design and production, and enjoy innovation and problem solving, the Wood Products major is ideal for you. Increasingly, the world is demanding sustainable and innovative products, and UBC is considered a world leader in advancing the science of wood product potential.

Understanding the merits of a sustainable product for the use in building, manufacturing, and engineering while exploring innovative product potentials for wood will equip you to meet demands from the world of tomorrow. Throughout the program, students have access to Canada’s national centre of excellence for wood products at our extensive facilities housed in our Centre for Advanced Wood Processing.

Students also have the benefit of pursuing a minor in Commerce that explores science, engineering, and business with a cohort of like-minded peers. Students are also encouraged to consider the Co-op program where doors are opened to diverse and exciting career opportunities, and students are able to connect with leaders in the sector.

This program is the proud winner of the Yves Landry Foundation Award for the Most Innovative Manufacturing Technology Program at the University Level, and the Alfred Scow Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Student Experience and Learning Environment at the University of British Columbia.
