Yasemin Sezgin becomes an entrepreneur and produces natural products in Izmir, Türkiye
While working as a white-collar worker in Izmir, Yasemin Sezgin, who settled in a rural neighborhood to spend the Covid-19 pandemic period when she was pregnant away from the crowds, became an entrepreneur and started animal husbandry and natural product production.
Born and raised in Izmir, 36-year-old Yasemin Sezgin studied logistics management at university and worked in maritime logistics companies in the city for 5 years.
Sezgin, who became pregnant in 2020 when the Covid-19 outbreak was effective, moved away from the city crowds to protect her baby from the outbreak and settled in Adnan Menderes Neighborhood of Tire district, where her husband’s family runs a dairy farm.
Sezgin realized her dream of establishing her own business in the neighborhood where she started to deal with animal husbandry. Sezgin resigned from her job as a specialist in Izmir and started to produce canned products and bone marrow broth in the business she established.
Sezgin, who employs 3 women from the neighborhood in her business, increases the number of employees up to 10 during the canning season. Sezgin sends his products to different cities through his social media account and website.
Sezgin’s wife continues to work in the city center, while the couple raises their children in the rural neighborhood.
Yasemin Sezgin, mother of one child, told AA correspondent that she built a new life for herself in the neighborhood where she came during the pandemic period.
Stating that after coming to Tire, their houses were destroyed in the earthquake on October 30, 2020, and that there were people who lost their lives in their apartments, Sezgin said that this further strengthened the idea of spending the rest of her life in the neighborhood.
Noting that it is easy to reach natural foods in Tire, Sezgin said:
“I knew that people in cities had difficulty in accessing these products, so I decided to produce and sell them in the most natural way on the farm. I quit my white-collar job and started making canned food entirely. It’s all Tire’s tomatoes and eggplants. We work with small farmers here. We do not use additives and preservatives in our products. We are one of the three approved companies in Izmir in the production of marrow bone broth. I want to announce Tire and its flavors both to all of Turkey and, if I am lucky, to the world.”
Stating that they prepare tomato, eggplant and Capia pepper canned food, Sezgin said:
“Apart from that, we have many products such as marrow bone broth, tarhana, noodles. We are farmers ourselves, we plant and harvest. Many of the by-products we use here, such as mint and basil, come from our own orchard. We came here to escape the crowds of people during the pandemic. We are very accustomed to this place. Every mother has a question mark in her mind when she comes home from work and cooks products that we don’t know the conditions under which they are produced, but I don’t have such a question mark here.
